Spring break is almost here! With Southern Nevada schools out from March 16–20, Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) is sharing a few easy tips to help travelers breeze through the airport and get their vacation started. As the busy travel period approaches during the ongoing partial government shutdown, travelers are encouraged to allow extra time for their airport journey, as staffing impacts have the potential to affect security wait times. Now more than ever, arriving early and planning ahead can help ensure a smooth start to spring break travel.
Arrive Early and Be Prepared
Spring Break can be a busy travel week, but a little planning can go a long way.
Arrive Early:
Domestic Flights – Arrive at least two hours before departure.
International Flights – arrive at least three hours before departure.
Check Flight Status: Review airline notifications and flight status before leaving for the airport.
Pack Smart: Review TSA guidelines in advance to help avoid delays at security checkpoints.
REAL ID Reminder
Passengers are encouraged to arrive with proper identification to avoid delays.
No REAL ID: Travelers without a REAL ID, or valid passport will be required to complete a TSA verification and pay a $45 fee, which allows travel for a 10-day period.
After 10 Days: if proper ID is still not obtained, an additional $45 fee will be required.
Plan for Delays: Additional screening should be expected.

Traveling with Children or Unaccompanied Minors
Families traveling during spring break should be prepared for a few additional steps.
Check Airline Policies: Airlines have specific rules, fees, and documentation requirements for unaccompanied minors.
Arrive Early: Parents or guardians should allow extra time for paperwork and TSA screening.
Picking Up Minors: Coordinate directly with the airline and arrive early to meet required procedures.
Parking Made Easy
Planning ahead can help simplify airport parking.
Reserve in Advance: Check rates and reserve parking at both terminals https://www.harryreidairport.com/parking.
Terminal 3 Option: Parking at Terminal 3 typically has more availability. Travelers can use the inter-terminal shuttle to reach Terminal 1, especially if not traveling with any checked luggage.
Economy & Remote Lots: Additional parking is available with free shuttle service to the terminals.
Picking Up Travelers?
Use the Cell Phone Lot: Wait for arriving passengers at no cost on Kitty Hawk Way.
Coordinate Pickups: Use numbered columns in the terminal pickup areas.
Avoid Curb Parking: Curbside parking is prohibited. Drivers may use Short-Term Parking, which offers the first 15 minutes free.
