Officials at North Las Vegas Airport (VGT) coordinated with The Animal Foundation on a special sendoff for more than 30 shelter animals.

In an effort to relieve shelter overcrowding here in Las Vegas, the dogs and cats were flown to rescue partners in Salt Lake City, where they’ll get a second chance at finding forever homes. Volunteers brought the furry passengers to VGT, where they were loaded onto a plane operated by nonprofit Dog Is My Copilot.

The airport regularly supports a host of community services and charitable organizations, and the VGT team was pleased to be a part of the transport.

"We were happy to support The Animal Foundation in its mission to find forever homes for these dogs and cats," North Las Vegas Airport Manager Karina Tarnowska said. "As an animal lover myself, it's something I care deeply about, and it reflects the airport's commitment to serving our community."

The flight marked the first time The Animal Foundation has flown pets to another state to find homes.
